Was just given a Sony Handycam CCD-TR416 video camera without a manual. When I playback tape there is no volume. Does anyone know how to raise the volume?

Thanks for your help.

My old sony

Of a similar model had me push up the volume on the TV. If this unit is broken (most are at this age) you pack it up and move it out on ebay for parts.

This unit is now 20 years old.

Manual available at

Assuming "raising the volume" when playing back using the camcorder and expecting the camcorder's built-in speak will emit audio cannot be resolved, it is possible the headphone jack is somehow causing the issue. Connect the Audio out connection (item 43 on page 71) to a TV with an RCA audio input to test.

You'll use this connection if you want to get video into a computer for editing, so best to be familiar with it and the composite video out-connection.
