Make sure the hard drive block adapter didnt stay on the old drive.. Then hit F2 or F10 on boot..(Think its F2).. Go to boot, Select CDrom for boot device then it should pick up the Optical drive and boot from disk. Do you have the origional recovery disks?
My compaq presario 2100 notebook hard drive recently completely died, so I went ahead and bought a new hard drive made by the same company as that of my OEM hard drive. So anyway it all fits nicely and such, but i can not seem to go anywhere past the intial boot up screen. I tried to make the laptop boot from the cd-rom but it still doesn't do anything much after that...it just says "operating system not found". I understand the OS isn't in there but how do i go about instaling it if it won't read the cd-rom. also i think i saw somewhere that "there is a device that is unlockable"...any ideas? need help.
