i have a budget from about 700.00 and i need to replace my computer. first i dont know what is better if a notebook or a desktop and wich ones second the only thing i do is e mail ,download music burn cd's and that's all.but i would like to have enough memory in order to use several aplication at the same time.because i hace several gift certificates from best buy this is the only place where i can go to shop.
any ideas?

Desktop. Emachines T6212, Socket 939 AMD ATHLON 64, PCI-Express (x16)slot, 512mb PC3200 RAM 160GB Hard Drive, DL DVD+_RW, CD-Rom, WIndows XP home.

yah just get dat as its also good for future upgrades and supports 64-bit.

wouldnt suggest getting a notebook as u cannot get a good one at $700. a good one would cost u around $950-$1300 so if u can come up with the money, i would suggest a couple of laptops for u.

If you don't need a laptop for any reason, then you can get much more pc for the $$$ by getting a desktop.

I also think the emachines mentioned is a great option. watch for sales - last week they had one, this week (week of 5/1) I do not think they do. If you can wait 2-3 weeks they will have another one sooner or later.
