General discussion

Hells bells, I got compromised! :(

Dec 14, 2003 11:03PM PST

I run a tight ship, but did full deep scans with all virus and spy protection today. My protection never murmured at any point during normal activity, but the reaults of my scans were disconcerting.

Norton found lebacc.exe download trojan sitting in my System folder, Spybot found a hijacker (thank God I am immunised), and AdAware fou8nd two sex dialers and an Alexa extension.

Let this be a warning to all - no matter how secure you keep things, no system is completely immune from penetration. Sad

You are certainly correct. All of us get nailed once in a while. You must have dallied too long on the wild side....surfing some of those shadier websites.

Still, I especially appreciate the "seasonal link" by including "bells" in your first subject line. ;-]]

Keep up the safe computing.
