General discussion

Hello everyone

Aug 14, 2014 11:47PM PDT

Hi my name is Matthew and I am 24 years old. I have just bought a new laptop a couple of months ago it is great apart from windows not responding or the tile does not work for the net. anyone know why it does this and if you can download something to fix this problems with this? Is this a common problem? but I like windows 8.1 apart from that. I still like windows xp it is simpler as I have got it on my old laptop which I put on myself. I know it is old software but I still like it. Would you say people still like windows xp and it is still quite common?

Cheers

Matthew

Why not read prior XP discussions for your XP discussion? Is there something they didn't cover?

Hello everybody
Aug 19, 2014 8:45PM PDT

I am not going to look through the posts as there are a lot of posts and it would take me for ever to look all through that lot. I am looking for someone on this site to answer the questions for me. I am looking for some one more to have a conversation with as I have got special needs and am learning to read. I come on here to make some friends who have got the same interest as me and to chat rather than look at posts I do not understand. Everyone on here uses big complicated pc words so I will not understand as I am not a computer expert sorry but that is the way it is.

Cheers

Matthew

I see three questions in your post:

"windows not responding or the tile does not work for the net. anyone know why it does this and if you can download something to fix this problems with this?"
- Nobody knows.
- Unlikely that there exists such a download.
All you can do is in http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc, unless the maker of your laptop implemented it in another way.

"Is this a common problem? "
Out of the box: no. But people can mistreat Windows or install malware, and then all you can imagine can happen.

"Would you say people still like windows xp and it is still quite common?"
Most people who use it like, but people who made the transition to Windows 7 generally like that more. And even Windows 8 - after some getting used to and possibly installing classic shell - is generally seen as not too bad.

I really can't understand why Bob and James gave the answers they did.
