General discussion

Healthycomputerclub

Does anyone know the PC Rescue program from "healthycomputerclub"? Couple of weeks ago I had downloaded and purchased that program because it seemed to be interesting and helpful. Payment was made via PayPal.
After the first trial run I had a view questions and so I wrote on Jan.09 to the Help address provided by them: help@healthycomputerclub.com but it came back as undeliverable. Next thing I tried, was help via their homepage http://www.healthycomputerclub.com%20/software/pcrescue/pcrescuehelp.html
however, the reply was: The page cannot be found.
What does this mean? Have I fallen pray to a fake offer? Not even PayPal is showing any interest in my complaint. In my request for info I asked on why one can close a PayPal deal with such a seemingly non existent company.
Any assistance and/or info will be highly appreciated.

I don't think much can be offered here

in the way of useful advice that's going to get you help or money back. If you have the product and the outfit is out of business, you have little recourse. PayPal is just a go between. Once they have paid the vendor, the money is gone. If this was like VISA/MC, and you can legitimately dispute charges or show that the vendor has failed to deliver a product as promised, credit card companies (as a service to their customers) have some leverage to help reconcile the matter. I don't know this about PayPal. I do not use them. If you know the state home of the outfit in question, you can file a complaint with their attorney general. You can also file with your own as their are legal requirements when doing business in any state. I am thinking these are more often exercises in futility, unfortunately. Hopefully the amount of loss was small. I am thinking, however, that a ruthless operation that now has your PayPal information could abuse it. You might try telling PayPal you want that account closed so no further activity will suddenly appear. This might get their interest as they don't want to lose customers. You could also close and reopen with a different acct. # just to be safe. Good luck.

They got me too

I also paid through PayPal and got screwed. Product didn't work and can't get any response from countless emails. PayPal claims they can't do anything. If the seller has an account, why can't they put a freeze on it and pay back the people who got screwed by the "guarantee"?

Healthy Computer Club is not a rip off though!

I bought the same product, got the download information almost immediately, and it worked very well to do what it said it would. I had a question about registry errors, and they helped with that too. Their customer service was very nice to me and helpful too.

RIP OFF

Sure, the program downloads, installs, and finds errors BUT when it comes time to fix the errors you are directed to Pay Pay to fund the supplier so that you can get your errors fixed. It seems to me that the web site is misleading in that the say, "Please download a FREE trial of PC Rescue today!" with no indication that you will have to pay for the program to work. I am not looking for a freebie BUT it seems that it would be more respectable if they just allowed a user to download and fix the problems while maintaining a LIMIT of days to use the program. As we all know, it would be RIGHT to see if the program actually works and then if we are pleased then activate the Pay Pal option to purchase the program for future needs. So, in summary -- don't bother to download, install, and run the program till the supplier provides some type of security that the program actually "Fixes the FOUND problems" otherwise search for other suppliers who will actually provide a COMPLETE PROGRAM and not just provide a list of problems.

fixing errors

My experience with this type of marketing program is that they don't actually repair anything. They falsely report errors on your computer, then falsely report that they have been repaired after you pay for it.
It's simply a scam. No legitimate company would operate in this manner. Count it as experience and stay away from these schemes. Do a little research before you purchase anything online.

Call your bank and tell them it was a fraud! I have had unauthorized payments taken from my account and the bank contacts them and refunds my money:)They send this on to their fraud department!
