Headset plug-in

Jan 3, 2005 12:03AM PST

I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum or not and this is not an earthshaking problem.
I have a Dell 8600, with CDROM and CD-RW drives. When I plug my headset in, the music doesn't come through the headset. And when plugged in it doesn't shut the music off. I'm sure I'm not explaining this very well so if you need more info. let me know. Thanks.

It is not the audio output of a PC.

The CD I'm listening to is only music. The plug-in is just to the left of the CD slot on my pc. Are you saying that that plug-in is not for the CD? Maybe I just don't understand. :o) Sorry.

http://www.ied.edu.hk/has/comp/compnent/cddrive.htm shows the phone or audio jack that will only give you AudioCD output.

Plus the PC (this is a PC?) will only let the CDROM output that if you change the settings to play the CD in ANALOG MODE. "Digital Playback" will also disable this jack.

Again, this jack is not a PC sound output.
