Headset Conundrum, Can this be done?

Nov 23, 2010 5:14AM PST

I have a wonderful Surround Sound headset for any optical out. I currently use it with an Xbox360. The problem lies in the microphone. It picks up crosstalk or something and creates a terrible static or buzzing sound for people when I don't keep it muted, and they have a hard time understanding me when I unmute and speak. Is there an adapter of some kind that would allow me a second mic plug-in so I could still get game voice audio from my controller through my Headphones but have a separate mic to speak with? Like a Y connection for an Ipod.
