Headphones for a commuter

Dec 6, 2008 12:30AM PST

Hey all. I've been using some nice high-quality Sony earbuds for around a year now. Thing is that I'm upgrading to an iPod Touch this month and want to get a shiny new pair of headphones to go with it...that and the fact that I've lost most of the rubber tips and the extension cord.

I don't mind earbuds so much, but they're not ideal for when I go jogging. Problem is that I listen to the majority of my music on the train, and so noise leakage is a major issue. I have my heart set on the Koss PortaPros (http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/koss-portapro-headphones/4505-7877_7-32897197.html, but obviously the fact that they're on-ear raises issues. I don't listen to loud music - a little drum and base, but mostly 80s hip-hop (:D), 60s rock and jazz. Will the PortaPros leak sound significantly (ie the person next to me will hear my music), or if they're on tight is leakage acceptable?

If they're too loud, what are your good experiences with headphones. One caveat though: they must be CHEAP!
