Question

Headphone Problems

Mar 18, 2016 8:32PM PDT

So, I recently decided that I needed to install Linux on my computer, for college purposes. I spent almost 2 days trying to make it work, and when it finally did, I stumbled onto one of the most bizarre computer problems I've ever seen. Mind you, my headphones were working just fine earlier today.
I restarted my computer, and this time it had and option to choose the OS. I chose Windows, and everything was running smoothly, until I realized my headphones had no sound, but when I unplugged the jack, the speakers were functioning normally. It's certainly a software problem. I tried with 2 headphones, which work on other devices, and the jack is outputting normally on Ubuntu. So, I have no idea what could be causing this problem or how to fix it, and would like some help.
I'm on a notebook Asus K45VM, which originally came with Windows 7, and I upgraded to Win10. Again, the problem started after I installed Ubuntu, which I would think has nothing to do, but it's good to say. Also, the microphone, from the same headset, and that connects on the same soundcard, is working just fine.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro 10.0.10240, and my soundcard lists as Realtek High Definition Audio 6.0.1.7767. Thank you all for your time.

So, I'll ask the question...
Do these headphones work with Ubuntu and have you tried the headphones on another computer ?

headphone or speaker generally are hardware...not software. Of course this could be something new that I have not encounter before. What's putting out on Ubuntu, mono, stereo, or surround compare to windows? Just thinking out loud.

I restarted the notebook about 5 times, trying to tweak something in each of them, and eventually it just worked, I have no idea why. But yes, the headphones did work with Ubuntu and they did work on other computers.

If you are unable to locate your receipt, we are able to accept a delivery note, printed orders from online dealers, or other documentation that shows the purchase date and product details. Unfortunately most bank and credit card statements do not provide this information so we are not able to accept this as proof of purchase.
