Question

Head phones blowing out in both ACER Aspire laptops

Feb 28, 2016 9:45AM PST

Both of my kids have this laptop for school. I keep buying headphones but they blow out in 1-10 uses. I took one laptop to the shop and was told that the plug went too deep and would short out. He said there was no solution because the receptacle is built into the motherboard. He said to just push it in only far enough to get sound but not til it clicked in. He also said that i should be happy that this "short" does not blow the motherboard. I am still buying several headphones every month. Is there a solution?

You can try some USB Audio Card for under 10 bucks or try some USB Headset next.

Homeschool headsets are cool tools.

They actually are very careful because they are in online public school and prefer the headsets when they attend live lessons. I have given them new headsets and had them short out immediately. We have gone through at least 20 headsets since school started. My laptop does not short out the headsets but they want to use their touch screen laptops. I thought there might be a headset with shorter plugs that doesn't short out in their laptops. I will try your suggestion though. Thanks!
