Twenty-nine-year-old rubber tapper Kuttiyamma, born with both male and female genitals, had been in love with the relative, Laura, 25, for 15 years before having surgery to become a man and change her name to Binu, the Hindustan Times reported.

That puts Kuttiyamma at 14 and Laura at 10 y.o.a. when this love developed. Interesting the vague use of the term "relative". One wonders how close a relative this is.

On a more serious note, these "mistakes of nature" sometimes occur. Many are "corrected" at birth to avoid confusion but I believe this practice is changing somewhat. Also most corrections are to female because the equipment is easier to "fix". As a 29 y.o. adult, I would think that the decision to become one or the other would have more to do with one's own desires to be man or woman, and not necessarily tied to one's choice of mate. IOW, if attracted to women and choosing to become a man, he'll be OK in the future. More fish in the sea and all that.
