HE-501A Digital Camera

I own a HE-501A digital camera but the problem is I have lost the CD that accompanied the camera which is why the camera, which at one point of time I had used extensively, is lying in a dormant state (in the sense that though I can click photos with the camera, I can't transfer the photos to my computer & what is the point in just taking photos with the camera when I can not even view them). I had installed the necessary drivers & the software in my computer when I had bought it (about 5 years back) but I have had to reformat my hard disks a couple of times since then which is why the drivers & the software required to transfer the photos from the camera to my computer no longer exists in my hard disk.

I had also got in touch with the manufacturer of the camera, HAIMEI, but unfortunately they couldn't help me out. I also had a word with the retailer from whom I had purchased the camera but his response was in the negative as well.

I would be highly obliged if someone could please somehow manage to arrange the CD that comes along with the digital camera for me (I don't mind paying for it provided it doesn't make too big a hole in my pocket) or better still if someone could please mail me just the contents of the CD....even that would suffice. Or else can someone refer any website from where I can download the necessary files using which I can install the drivers & the software in my PC? Alternatively, can someone suggest some other drivers & software using which I can transfer the photos from the camera to my computer?

Since long, I have been trying to lay my hands on that CD but all my efforts till now have been in vain & have gone down the drain. Hence I am requesting everyone going through this post with a lot of expectations; please do not disappoint me. I would really appreciate your efforts from the bottom of my heart if someone could please help me out in some way or the other.

Please try to understand the predicament I am in. What's the use of the camera if I can't view the photos that I have taken with it? & I don't want to trash it away.

Haimei HE 501A camera

I am pretty sure this is the notorious keychain camera.

This is a toy and is a throw away item, not supported by any one.

The only way to get the drivers is to buy a new camera.
The CD comes with the new camera.

I saw one a few months ago at Walgreen Pharmacy for $10.
That one has the Innovage name on it.

About 6 months ago, it was being sold by WalMart for $15, and it had the Philips (model P44417S) name on it.

It has also been marketed under
MARS MR 97310.

You can buy the Philips model on eBay for about $15:

The HE-501A camera is no toy!

I forgot to mention in my earlier post, these are NOT a throw-away keychain or toy camera. They're a great handy slim-line go/use anywhere little camera. They can be used as a WebCam, Video and still camera.

HE-501A Digital Camera Driver/Software

G'day mates,

I have a number of HE-501A cameras from StarCam, I'm guessing these cameras were manufactured for anyone/wholesalers, who wanted them, the manufacturing company then packaged and put whatever name the bulk buyer wanted on the cameras.
I have sold and installed a number of these camears to others, on both Win-98 and Win-XP systems and have had no problems. They realy are a good handy little camera as you can put it in your shirt pocket, like a pen, and use it wherever/whenever you like.
I used one myself till earlier this year when I blew my motherboard and had to build another unit. I built a 9500 AMD with 8GB of RAM, the motherboard is from Azus, an M3A and the first problem it gave me was the fact that the motherboard drivers from Azus caused the system to freeze-up on start-up! So I downloaded and installed new drivers for the motherboard and that fixed that problem, I dumped the original motherboard driver disk from Azus.
Now when I try installing my handy little HE-501A Digital Camera, my system hangs as soon as I place the set-up disk in the drive bay!
And I have no idea why this is happening!
Like I have stated, I used this camera on my own earlier PC and on other peoples PC's but for some reason, it will not load the ArcSoft disk on my new system!
If anyone can advise me on what I can do to solve this little problem, your advice would be most welcome.

HE-501A Disk

G'day,
The disk zipped-up is 422MB and right now I'm uploading it to one of my software domains. I don't know if you have broadband or a 56K modem, nor where you are located but if you have a 56K modem the disk will take a "lot" of time to download, if you have broadband, it will still take a bit of time to download as this is the full package that goes with the HE-501A webcams.
I'll let you have the URL to the download just as soon as I've finished uploading.

Just wondering if you got the disk or is it to big a download for you?
If it is to big, let me know and I'll do the disk in three or four seperate downloads. You will need to save all the downloads to a folder on your PC and unzip them all in the same folder, then you can burn the files to a CD or run the set-up from that folder.
Let me know how you get on Ravindran.

First of all please accept my apologies for not replying you. I should have done it a long back, but due to my dad's sickness I was not able to continously use my system. I finally downloaded the driver disk after numerous broken dodwnloads. Thank you very much for taking the pain of zipping and uploading the files. I am ye to test the driver with my camera.
