HDTech, I have a question for you about my LN40A630

Feb 25, 2009 6:56AM PST

Hello,

I been reading posts and the advice you have been giving people for a while now and I like what I have read, so I thought I would ask a question about the color in PC "mode" and see what you think about giving me a little better picture quality.

I bought this TV because of two things, Price and the 120 Hz.
I watch very little TV, what the TV is mainly used for is gaming and I must say it has a beautiful picture, however I have noticed a lot of motion blur or lag in dimly lit areas and its very distracting when playing the game(s). I have read some topics on this issue and I have renamed the HDMI/DVI port that I'm using to PC and that did help eliminate most to all the distractions I was seeing, however the picture doesn't look as good in PC "Mode", I have made some picture adjustments in the way of Dynamic contrast and the white balance to try to match the colors of other "modes" when not in PC "mode".

What I'm asking of you HDTech is can you give me a better picture setup as in the way better color quality and contrast. Now keep in mind this color setup is only when am playing on the xbox 360 in PC "mode".
Am not watching movies on the 360 just playing games.

This is the setup I'm using now:

HDMI/DVI Port 2 Named PC

Picture Mode: Standard

Backlight: 8

Contrast: 100

Brightness: 32

Sharpness: 50 - Non Adjustable

Color: 50 - Non Adjustable

Tint (G/R): 50/50 - Non Adjustable

Detail Settings

Black Adjust: Off - Non Adjustable

Dynamic Contrast: High

Gamma: 0

Color Space: Auto - Non Adjustable

White Balance

R-Offset: 25
G-Offset: 20
B-Offset: 18
R-Gain: 38
G-Gain: 32
B-Gain: 35

Picture Options

Color Tone: Cool 2
Size: 16:9
Digital NR: Off - Non Adjustable
DNIe: Off - Non Adjustable
HDMI Black Level: Normal - Non Adjustable
Film Mode: Off - Non Adjustable

Again keep in mind I'm not asking to adjust the color for watching movies, cable or broadcast, Only when in HDMI/DVI - PC "mode".
Also is there anyway I can turn up the Sharpness in PC "mode", maybe through the TV's service menu?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Bob.

I don't understand why I can't get an answer to my question, is it that Samsung Tech's don't know or YOU don't CARE?

Calibration

BC144601,

Due to the increased traffic and current issues and questions I'm addressing, there can be a delay in responses to initial questions. I have you in queue now.

I don't have any suggested settings, because there is no uniform list of settings for either paritcular applications (games may vary), and calibrations such as the ones you're asking for are also dependent on variables such as ambient light, room size and personal preference.

You might try looking online for some lists that users have submitted for their preferred settings, but I don't have a list of presets for any application.

Game & PC mode have limitations to settings.
When you set 1366*768 (auto-PC mode) you will encounter these limitations. Res. set to 1280*720/1920*1080i/1920*1080p is HD format & all settings* will be available for you to use as long as you use HDMI.
*(although certain options remain gray in <dynamic>+<standard>+<movie>. [specifically certain menu brightness settings & PC <VGA> options])
