Question

Hdmi to VGA converter possible?

Sep 3, 2014 1:56PM PDT

can this work? I'm trying to connect a tablet to a LCD Monitor that doesn't have a HDMI connection. I'm basically trying to do a presentation. Here is the info

Nexus 7 accessory link:

http://www.asus.com/Tablet_Mobile_Accessories/ASUS_Dock_for_Nexus_7_2013/

The accessory doesn't come with a HDMI cable, so it needs to be purchased seperately. If you can help me out with what cable to get and what adaptor I would appreciate it.

An example of an LCD monitor is EPSON EB-S12, I will use it on this but it doesn't have a HDMI port. Here is what it has: Audio plug (3 ports for white red & yellow cables), A video port (The Pre-USB standard plug) , USB Type A & type b (one that looks like a regular usb and another one like a dsl female plug) and the good ol VGA plug with screw attachments on the side.

Thanks for you time and help!

http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=hdmi+to+vga+adapters&tag=googhydr-20&index=electronics&hvadid=25107007998&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=489474027109398182&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_2g5zxqk7js_b finds them but don't get the ones that are just a cable and wires.

This requires a little box with chips in it to do the work. Then it gets worse. That is I continue to see folk struggle to get the HDMI port turned on, outputting a compatible signal so most folk get very cross about it all.

Maybe the USB VGA Video Card is a nice alternative.

Hdmi to VGA converter possible?
Sep 11, 2014 10:18AM PDT

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I'll get one or maybe that VGA Video Card, I still have to think about the situation with using this equipment.

Even with the HDMI box-cable it still isn't compatible? Is this an issue with voltage (I'm outside of the u.s. where they use 220 volts instead of the standard 120 volts).

I was thinking about your suggestion with the usb vga.......what about connecting "that" with a Hdmi to USB cable also and vice versa? I don't know if thats possible, but guess I'm just theoretically going to keep on connecting converters from HDMI until it fits into the VGA slot.

Thanks alot for your help!

That would be another discussion. But

HDMI means copy protection for any HD signal. That's partly why everyone tends to explode when they discover why it's a dead end. The Voltage issue is solved.

Sorry about the USB video card mention. It's for your run of the mill laptops and you want to go from tablet to VGA read https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/0qY6Yn5bL0E however try the HDMI to VGA noted at http://eiuitc.blogspot.com/2014/03/convert-your-vga-projector-into.html

Analog video days are long gone. There are no convertors I will recommend but if you can get a retailer to take it back, why not try?
