Question

HDMI to VGA adapter

by PierceB123 / January 29, 2018 10:03 AM PST

I am getting a gtx 1050 ti and there is no VGA ports on it and my monitor only has a VGA so I bought a HDMI to VGA adapter(the adapter arrived today and still waiting on the GPU). My monitor used 1440x900 but since I connected with the HDMI to VGA I could not select 1440x900. I tried using other resolutions but they do not fit the screen properly, either it was too zoomed in or there is black bars at sides. I am pretty sure the aspect ratio of the monitor has changed somehow as its normal when its not connected with HDMI to VGA and just VGA.
My current GPU is and radeon 8570d and I got this http://go.redirectingat.com/id=1402X558040&xs=1&isjs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.co.uk%2Fdp%2FB00ZMV7RL2%2Fref%3Dpe_3187911_189395841_TE_dp_1&xguid=b0e2478fa9070f5ba5b7fd3a13fb76ab&xuuid=ec72d556254c94da5ef666f762bf08c5&xsessid=74be39480c9804bb89efc364eaf17f31&xcreo=0&xed=0&sref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tomshardware.co.uk%2Fforum%2Fid-3628467%2Fhdmi-vga.html%3Futm_medium%3Demail%26utm_source%3Dforum_email%26utm_campaign%3DEPR-8809%2320641056&pref=android-app%3A%2F%2Fcom.google.android.gm&xtz=0

That I'm going with such things rarely work perfectly. They may do in a pinch but for folk that want things to work correctly the fix is to get a HDMI display.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
