Question

hdmi port issues

Hi, i recently purchased a 51" plasma 3D samsung tv, i am more than happy with the picture with my HD box and PS3. until recently that is!!!
i am having to use HDMI 3 for quality of picture, sound is no different, not noticable anyway!!
I have a 3D blu ray player and when plugged in HDMI 3 the screen flickers and ticks every 5-10 seconds. very annoying and unwachable!!! When i plug into a different HDMI port the picture quality is less, but the flicking and ticking isnt as often, so must be a tv problem, i have a 3 year warrenty on tv so not a problem getting fixed, but thought i would ask the question or here first incase its a setting problem!!!
when i first purchaced blu ray player everything was fine, not now.
dont have the model number off hand but any advice or help would be fab!!!!
thanks guys!!!

Answer
From my experience

If the HDMI handshake shows up like that, the maker is often unable to fix it. If you need to understand why we have to dive into a discussion about Intel's HDMI chips.

I'd make the call now and if they can't resolve it, return it.

I've yet to hear about HDMI 2,3 or 4.

Since HDMI 1.4a is the latest and has no extra bandwidth than 1.0 we know that there is nothing more to expect in picture and sound quality.

Why I noted the Intel HDMI chips is because that's where the handshake occurs and Intel so far does not allow firmware upgrades if you even run into HDMI handshake issues.

Remember that HDMI is not what you think it is. It's all about content protection first.
