HDMI out

Dec 10, 2008 12:00AM PST

We are in the process of looking for a new television.
and are very interested in the Samsung LN46A650.
My question is does it have a HDMI output?
or is the only audio out the toslink optical?

I have been looking for the answer to this question for a few days and have not found anything.
so I am sorry if this has been asked before and I have over looked it.

Thank you

HDMI Out

I don't think there is a TV for the consumer market that has HDMI output, they are all HDMI input? That model should have 4 HDMI inputs. Why not check the manufacturers websites to compare models, but most decent makes these days sport 4 HDMI inputs, a couple of SCARTs, component video, optical and phono sound output, USB and various other lesser used options. If you are after splitting the HD signal from a satellite or cable TV box between two or more HD TV's then there are HDMI splitters boxes and long cables available for reasonable prices, or if you want to go wireless Belkin have just launched (so hard to find) a wireless HDMI transmitter, but that will set you back a fair few $. I have successfully used splitter boxes and long cables for a perfect HD picture in three rooms.

re- HDMI out

Thank you for your reply,
The reason for my question is we have a 7.1 surround sound setup, But our receiver only has 2 HDMI inputs. But we have 3 devices that can use HDMI. I know I can always use the toslink optical to get the sound to the receiver.

This is not going to be a sticking point on my decision on what television to get, of course that goes to the quality of the television itself. And from what I have read and seen in the stores I am leaning toward the Samsung LN46A650.

Another great post by Mr. Parrott.

I just stopped in to confirm that there is no HDMI out on the LNxxA650.

HDTech
thank you for confirming this
We are going to buy the 46a650 as it looks to be what we are looking for
as far as size and picture quality.
I will have to connect one device using component cables instead of hdmi

I would recommend that on future models that there be a hdmi out so sound can be passed through to a receiver

Not that we will be needing a new television for a long time now as
we picked up the 46A650 all I can say is WOW.
after we got it hooked up, we watched Wall-E on Blu of course
what an amazing picture this TV has.

and that was right out of the box.
after that I set up the picture settings
