Question

HDMI not working GT 730

Nov 24, 2015 12:52PM PST

Hello there!
I have an Nvidia GT 730 graphics card, Asrock H61M-HVS motherboard, Sandy Bridge Intel i3 and 8GB Rams. I also have an HD ready Samsung tv. My graphics card, motherboard and TV have HDMI ports but none of them are interacting with each other.
I have bought a new monitor, Full HD, 1920*1080, HDMI signal undetected.
I tried downloading and installing a new graphics driver, not working.
Tried differenct HDMI cables, not working.
Tried turning everything off, plugging in the HDMI cable, then turning everything back on. None of this works
My monitor works fine with VGA.
I have looked in my BIOS if there is a possibility to turn on HDMI, but there isn't.
Why I don't understand is because my PC detects both the monitor and TV, but it's not sending the signal, nothing is showing on any of the screens.
Do you guys have any ideas about what to do?
The graphics card still has warranty.

Thanks in advance!

Answer
There's a lot to cover.

Almost all onboard video connections disable when you plug in a graphics card. I didn't read your motherboard manual but you can check that.

So the 730 may be OK but if your VGA is plugged in I find many struggle to extend the desktop.

No Windows version noted so here's a video on this for Windows 10.

HDMI not working
Nov 24, 2015 11:23PM PST

First of all I want to say that my main goal is to have my new Philips 223V5 Monitor working on HDMI.
I have tried plugging in the HDMI cable into the monitor& PC, no signal detected. Works fine with VGA cable.
I tried using the hdmi cable with tv as well, it detects, but can't send a signal.
I am using Windows 7 64 bit.
I want to use the monitor, but later on I would like to also use the TV as a secondary screen if possible. Can I plug in 2 hdmi cables simultaneously? One of them into the graphics card - monitor, the other into the motherboard - TV.

Moat likely, that's a setting or such on the PC to use the hdmi. If it doesn't and there is no signal, the monitor says so. Check the monitor with another PC or laptop.

Your second question is more difficult to answer. But it's likely that if the video settings allow split screen, you can have both via HDMI. Anyway, it's easy to test.

try different resolutions and refresh rates
Nov 25, 2015 1:30AM PST

You will have to try different resolutions and refresh rates to find one that will work with the tv. It is a pain and since it is hdml you should not have to but you do. I know I had to on two different tvs in order to get rid of that no signal screen. Also, make sure the input on the tv is set for hdml.

OK

The resolution is all right, was set automatically, maybe I should change the refresh rate. Will try that.

Thanks

do not use automatic

do not use automatic for resolution. It does not always do right on tvs. You will have to manually try the different ones. you may have to use something other than 1920x1080
