I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue.
The firmware for the Blu-Ray player can either be done by connecting the Ethernet port in the back of the player to the TV and finding the "Update" menu in the player - Sony's customer service may be able to assist further on that.
As for the TV, I'm not sure of the ports not working, but if this is an issue, try testing it with a different HDMI device to see if you're able to get another device to work through the port. If so, it's likely an issue with the Blu-Ray player.
My blu ray has not worked in over a year and since I am not a technical gal I just ignored it. Well I have been working hard on a fix.
I bought a new hdmi cord, that did not work, I talked to both samsung and sony the maker of my blu ray and sony said make sure the unit is set to 1080 still did not work.
Then I read that the ports could be bad and a firmware could fix it.
First, how do you do a firmware? and do you think it will fix this problem?
