HDMI + GAMING CONSOLES + LN52A650 = SUCK!

Feb 25, 2009 12:14AM PST

I just want to finally get my 1080p but cant seem to get any system to work through HDMI...

I bought a new ps3 & xbox 360 4 days ago. I bought a new samsung 52" LCd 3 weeks ago. I bought 2 monster hdmi cables with both systems.. one is the 800hd and the other is the 1000hd.

When I hook the ps3 up through the cables I get only a black screen. I've changed the settings on the ps3 to HDMI.. it goes black for 30 seconds then comes back to the reg screen. I've tried the 2 beep power trick to no avail. I've tried all 4 hdmi ports The tv almost always says no signal. when i use the 2 beep power off reset it goes to 480 and just a black screen. I've taken the ps3 back and exchanged it once already.

On the xbox360 the picture comes up great in 1080 but... no audio on any of the 4 hdmi ports... i've tried removing the hard drive and then turning it on... i've tried changing the setting on the tv.. just doesnt want to cooperate.

PLZ help if you can. Thanks

In response to the issue with the 360 the reason you might not be gettin any sound is a problem that might actually be with the 360 not the tv necessarily..also this might sound dumb but did u by accident maybe turn off the tv speakers? (BTW I have this same tv as well) Anyways back the 360 when they released the New Xbox Experience some of the XBOXes for some odd reason cut out sound from games and NETFLIX and various other areas..There should be a patch for that have you downloaded all the updates I believe they already issued a patch for this, also removing the HD wouldnt really do anything unless you completely wiped out the memory and then started over...also maybe its the cables, MONSTER is great but thats a lot of money I have a cheap like 20 or 30 dllr cables and have yet to have a problem with them. I cant really help on the PS3 as I dont have one (yet) but ya also check the sound and vidoe settings on the 360 under SYSTEM SETTINGS and see if the problem might be there....If that dont work either check out the official XBOX forums or exchange the TV for a newer one although I cant imagine it being just the TV since you said it is only about 3 weeks old or so...hope this helped, let us know how it works.

Do you have all of the resolutions checked in the PS3 settings?

Also, bring back those Monster cables!!! They are over-priced and nothing makes them any better than a $4 one from Monoprice (widely known to sell amazing cables for insanely low prices). Digital is Digital. Stores selling Monster cables actually make more $ selling those than the tvs themselves. Don't believe the hype, they aren't anything special whatsoever.

It's the tv...

I tried my 3rd different hdmi cable with no luck. Then I took it to my father-in-law's house and hooked it up on his tv with the same cables. Both the xbox360 and ps3 worked perfectly. I called Con's where I bought the TV and they lived up to their name, saying I couldnt return/exchange it even tho it had been less than 30 days and I bought the 2 year warranty....
