HDMI connectability to an older Plasma TV

Sep 1, 2005 5:08AM PDT

I have a Sharp 50 inch plasma that does not have an HDMI connection. It is bascially the same plasma as the Pioneer PDP-5030. I would like to upgrade to one of the newer generation DVD players to upscale the video output to 720p or 1080i. Does anyone have a suggestions as correspondence with both Pioneer and Sharp were useless? Thanks, Frank

I have both component and composite connections. It is my understanding that the upscaling can only be done through HDMI.
