HDMI Cable Brand really matter?

Oct 3, 2005 3:52AM PDT

So HDMI cables sure seem expensive. Monster runs nearly $150 for a certain length, while other brands run $100 for an equal length. Is Monster really that much better and worth the extra money? I'm sure this is a long debated topic. I apologize for the re-post if it's already been discussed. Thanks.

I'm exactly where you are right now, in search of a good deal on HDMI cable. So far I've come across a high-end brand called Transparent (TransparentCable.com) and Audio Quest. Transparent is about 3 times more expensive than Monster, and Audio Quest is comparable.

Other than that I have nothing to go on. I've been Googling HDMI reviews but haven't really come across anything that does a head-to-head comparo. I want to get the best HDMI cable I can buy within my price range. I'll spend $150 on a Monster HDMI but only if I find the price is justified.
