Would like an easy to understand tutorial
to make a quick to retrieve backup for my HDD's.My current
HDD (Disk 0) on my desktop PC is a Hitachi Desktar 1 TB 32 MB cache
loaded with Win 7 Home 64-bit.
I also have 4 other WD 1 500GB Blue, a
2TB Green and 2 other Caviar Black Faex 1002 1TB and 2001FASS 2 TB.
All of them Sata II except the FAEX which is Sata 3; one of the WD
installed in the PC as Disk 1 the other 3 inside a Sans Digital
TowerRaid connected to the PC via eSata cable to a Rocket Raid 622
6Mb/s capable PCI express card.
From my research about free
backups and restore options I am left with.
1. the Backup abd
Restore feature included with my Win 7 Home OS
2. Macrium
Reflect
3. Paragon Backup and Restore. I particularly like from
this one 2 elements:a ) the 'bubble' feature that allows to save
a full HDD image -or mirror- with all its contents including the
OS- incremental (or differential) backups
I am also
aware that as owner of the WD disks I am entiled download and use a
free Acronis version to deal with backups of the WD. Riight now I
need to backup the Hitachi so cant use the free Acronis for the WD
HDDs.Id like to use redundancy with the WD ones installed 1
on PC + 3 on the Sans Diigital external enclosure.
What would
be the most recommended combination of backups given my configuration
and aalso very important is that I would need some tutorial or articles to read about
how to save the backup copy/ies and how to retrieve them in case of a
future HDD crash.
Where can I read about the convenience of creating
different partitions and what to save on each created one.
Right now
I have the OS loaded in 2 of the WD and as of yesterday on the
Hitachi also, original reason for this multiplicity of HDD with OS
was to have a hot swap available in case of crashes.
Unfortunately i
was unable to have a good image backup available though at the time
of the crashes; this is precisely what i want to avoid in future
thus my need for an efficient backup and restore model .
The boot disk
right now is the Hitachi.
Also I had to reinstall the OS 4
times and I do not trust the other 2 disks where it is installed
cause those 2 crashed and would not let me restore the OS to Dell
factory settings, nor use any previous restore point to repair the
HDD and not even allow me a clean re-install of Windows 7 from the
original Win7 CD.
I would now like to request from the
community knowledgeable opinions of what would you do if you were in
my place.
Thank you kindly
