HDD vs. FLASH! Please Help!!

Oct 2, 2007 10:24AM PDT

Hey guys.

Ok, so my Ipod officially died this past Sunday, and I'm now on the market for a new MP3 player. I'm leaning toward the Archos 605, and the Creative Zen 16GB Flash Player. I'd put the Ipod Touch in there, but I just can't justify paying $400 for 16GB, I just can't.

Anyways, here's the problem...

I take my MP3 player EVERYWHERE with me. When I go to work in the morning, walking in between classes, hell even if I'm just takin a short walk up to the corner store. So it' gets used alot...and when I'm at work, I'll admit, it was rough on the Ipod. I have dropped it several times, I've accidentally ran into doors, etc...so I can't be gettin any nelly old MP3 player, I need something sturdy, that can take the punishment. I try my best not to bump it into things, but my job is so fast-paced, that sometimes it's unavoidable.

I really REALLY wanna get the Archos 605, but it's an HDD player, and I'm afraid of me dropping it and it dying just like my ipod did. I was told that Flash players dont stand a chance of you losing your data if they're dropped because there's no mechanical parts versus a HDD. Is this true?

Overall, I just want you guys' opinion. What do you think I'm better off with? The Creative Zen or the Archos?

Thanks for any opinions submitted...

Well, I need at least 16gb with all the music I have. Although it will be lower after losing ALL that music on my ipod.
