Question

HDD Firmware

Consider this product:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152245&Tpk=samsung%20f4%202tb

Samsung acknowledges the firmware problem and supplied a patch http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/notfound.html (this page is no longer reachable!).

it turns out that versions of this hdd that are manufactured after Jan. 2011 (as i understand it) are not troubled with this firmware problem. but how does one know when the hdd was manufactured -- Samsung cs is as useless as a rubber crutch.. so my question is this: will applying this firmware patch to an hdd that does not need it cause me sleepless nights?
