By decree, definition and more, when a HDMI port is labeled "HDMI" that port shall have HDCP. This does not mean that everyone's implementation works with everyone but it does have HDCP. What you need to know is that many cable boxes have been swapped out or updated by the cable co to fix this. I have yet to see the fix done to a TV.

Now add the make, model of everything involved.

Tough to see if others have that issue.

This could be as simple as a bum cable but I see that my reply didn't make sense.

http://www.hdmi.org/learningcenter/faq.aspx among many other things tells us that if you see HDMI you do get HDCP. It does not mean it will work with everything or someone in some product has no bugs.

Since the details are not here I can't see if that cable or box has been reported. There are also other idiosyncrasies where an owner left the composite cable plugged in and got that message. Or didn't power cycle after the cable change. Today's gear is buggy must be my message.

ive tried new cables, same story. do i need to remove the scart cables? im not sure what a power cycle is. Ive tried a factory reset on the tv which improved the picture but only via scart, still nothing via hdmi. our hd camcorder plays in the hdmi port on the tv so they are ok but i think there is no hdcp issues there.

Given the time to test, and the troubles you are having, why not do this?

In fact many cable boxed will screw up if we have multiple connections.
