HD, viewfinder and zoom

Hi, I tried to search for this subject as per the FAQ but I couldn't find any search functions on the forum.

I've got a Sony camcorder with tape drive, 24x zoom, LCD flap, viewfinder and extended battery which I've had for years now, it cost about £1000. I want to upgrade.

Since the main point is to go from SD to HD I would like 1080p video, obviously.

Apart from general stuff which isn't important, I mostly use my camcorder for Air Displays where I set up a tripod and attempt to film aircraft taking off, flying, doing stunts, etc. For this I need a good zoom as otherwise the aircraft will just be a sort of dot in the middle of a blue screen. Also as the planes are flying about I need to keep on target and that means a viewfinder so I can point it like an AA gun. Also obviously you can't see an LCD screen in sunlight, especially not when moving the camera about so it's in direct sunlight some of the time, but even if you can it's like trying to shoot a gun holding it sideways while looking through the sights with a mirror.

My budget isn't particularly limited but I'm not going to lug about a suitcase type thing as would be used by a TV company. Also it needs to have some sort of memory card thing that I can read to put video onto youtube and so on.

Having done some looking, most of them seem to lack a viewfinder and their optical zooms are a bit weedy, has the market decided to stop bothering? Or are there some that meet my seemingly trivial spec, i.e. a portable camera with 1080p, a viewfinder and decent zoom?

Thanks in advance,

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
