HD TV/Monitors vs Digital Photo Frame

Jul 7, 2009 1:10AM PDT

I have been looking to buy a digital photo frame, but they are very costly if you want one over about 10 inches. However, I have seen LCD HD TVs/Monitors for well under $200 that are up in the 20" size. Would a monitor work as well? Of course, I don't want to have to use a computer with it, just use the monitor and I know it would have to have a USB port. Anyone doing this? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you......

You are right about the price.

Probably can get one for under $100 but I don't recall seeing monitor with a usb input though. You might use a dvd player and threw in some slide show. Personally, I just like to hang photographs, hehe.

You Are Right About The Price

Thanks for the reply. Problem is, I have 6 grandkids and not much wall space available. Seems like every time I get a new picture I have to cover up another picture that I really like. Haven't bought anything yet, but digital frames are really high when you get pass the 8 inch size.

Do you have an electronic picture frame now or have use one?

Personally speaking, I think the idea is a lot better than its usefulness. It sort of remind me of all these great exercise machine that they are trying to sell, hehe.

But I do think the monitor is a better way to do it. At least it's bigger and cheaper..and maybe incorporate a mention sensing device as well if you don't want it on all the time.

Connect a DVD player

Many DVD players have USB and memory card ports, and they do their own slide show from the cards. Simply connect to any TV.

I own a 7" picture frame and it's OK but not great, especially since the stupid thing can't keep the date if I turn it off. Nice idea, bad execution, but that's what I get for spending less than $100 for a 7" digital frame.
