HD Tuner Question

May 29, 2008 5:55AM PDT

I recently bought a Samsung PN42A450 for my bedroom and have been unable to get any basic cable (ABC,CBS etc..) HD channels through the tuner. I have a HD box on my TV in the living room that works fine so I am a little unsure why it isn't working. One suspicion is that my cable connection in the bedroom isn't that great and is a slight bit fuzzy on some channels but I don't know if that would prevent it from getting HD or not.

I put the Sammy through the normal setup routines where it detects channels and no digital channels have come up so can anyone provide advice?

Thanks!

You most likly need a HD box for that TV. TV tuners are for OTA (Other the Air) channels. If your tv has a Cablecard slot you can get one of those (rent from the cable company) or a HD box like what you have in the living room.

Anyway for more help we would need to know how the TV is hooked-up, cable/wire wise, like to me it sounds like your running the coax from the wall directly to the tv (?).

HD Tuner

It is just running of the coax from the wall with nothing else currently. I didn't actually think was possible to get HD without a box but my parents bought a philips LCD and are getting a ton of HD channels without a box or a cablecard so I just don't understand why one works and one doesn't??

Thanks for your help!
