HD tuner or not?

Apr 27, 2005 7:25AM PDT

I'm trying to decide between a $450 Samsung TX-P2764 (listed at same price on Samsung website; it's last year's model) and a $550 TX-P2775H (most retailers sell it for $700). The difference seems to be an HD tuner that's included in the latter and BBE sound (a lot of TVs seem to advertise that nowadays). Which would you choose?

I haven't found the former on display at any store, but love the latter, although the Samsungs look rather poor at Circuit City for some reason. Comments?

tv broadcasting is line of site...

so if you live below a ridge line you immediately have a problem. Best to check with a local av specialty shop re: antenna reception. Don't play games and act like you are shopping for a tv...just explain where you live and ask if you can use an antenna to pick up the signal. I live about 65 miles away from Pittsburg, PA but I live on a ridge line and pick up 7 HD stations via antenna.

Luck

First of all, Samsungs not so great to begin with...but if you must, definately choose the model with the HD tuner!

can you get signal via antenna ?

If you live in an area where you must use satalite or cable to get a HD signal then the added expense of the built in tuner may be something you dont need. If you can get HD broadcasting with an antenna then spend the extra money and screw the monthly fees !
