HD Tuner Necessary for playing Xbox 360 in HD?

Dec 1, 2005 7:55AM PST

Hey folks,

I'm just starting to get into home audio & video, but I'm thinking about getting a Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-30HS420 (HD-Ready) TV shortly after christmas. I'm on a pretty tight budget (college student), so I'm curiouus if an HD Tuner is required to play the Xbox 360 in HD. If I understand things correctly, the tuner would be required to watch local TV shows in HD, but that's it.

On a side note, I'm looking at the Sony because of the amazing reviews it's received, if anyone has any other recommendations in the ~$800 category, I'm all ears.

Thanks in advance, great site!
Nick

you don't need an HD tuner to play XBOX 360 in HD. Your TV just needs the correct inputs and need to be HD Ready and "be" HDTV's.. All a tuner will do is get you TV channels without a cable box. It has nothing to do with XBOX... I think...

All you need is an HDTV to enjoy the 360 in HD.
