I am sure you know this but one solution is to get the HD Tivo 250. It records in HD.
I need some advice on my current TV/Audio setup and hopefully I can get some feedback from folks in this forum.
I recently purchased a Humax Series 2 Tivo 80hr DVR/DVD Recorder for my existing environment which consists of a Hi-Def Hitachi TV with a Time Warner Explorer 8300HD DVR (amongst other things).
I really like the ability to record DVDs, I prefer the Tivo scheduler over the Time Warner solution and I like the native 802.11g wireless connectivity that the Tivo provides.
The things I don't like about it are that its only outputs are componennt/s-video while my Time Warner settop box has HDMI. It only has a single tuner while the Time Warner box has two and the Tivo doesn't support High Def.
So I'm actually thinking of just getting rid of the TIVO and buying a regular DVD burner but then I lose the Tivo scheduler and the 802.11g wirelss functionality.
Does anyone has a similar situation and are there any suggestions people might have on getting the best out of this setup? I was thinking of running the Tivo on a separate input so I could watch Hi-Def real-time on one input and watch Tivo recorded material on the another input, however, I'm worried about recording in degraded quality since the Tivo doesn't have a Hi-Def tuner (although I wonder if that really matters since it should be able to record at 480p and that's probably the best I could expect for recording anyways).
Any thoughts or ideas would be great appreciated!
