HOWEVER many like ProShow Gold HD from http://www.photodex.com/
I have a one Sony and two other digital cameras. I recently bought Sony CSS-HD1 camra dock for HD Slideshow. Slideshow works fine for the pictures taken by the Sony camera. If I copy pictures from other cameras to the memory card, it gives me an error on those images. Using ExifToolGUI, I have tried replacing EXIF data on the other images and replaced it with EXIF from one Sony image and resized other images to Sony resolution and named those to Sony naming convention (DCSxxxxx). I still can not play other images. Sony Camera flashes other image for a split second and then gives an error. If I compare EXIF data, Sony images have one line that is missing in the modified other images. It seems to be one of the useless attribute. I am not sure if that is the line W80 is fussing about and if/how do I add that line. Or is there something else I am missing. I have lots of non sony pictures that I am desprate to play in HD slideshow.
I'll appriciate any help
I am using Sony's (W80) internal slideshow. My Sony W80 goes into camera dock. This Camera dock is connected to my HD TV and has a remote. So I can have slide show directly from Camera without any software. I love watching it on HD TV. Problem is that I am unable to play pictures from other cameras.
You are trying to use the camera as a media player.
I don't know of any digital camera that will let you add pictures to the memory card and have the camera recognize them.
You can research various media players (like iPod video) and see if you can direct connect them to a HD television.
A work-around is to use software to create a slideshow.
Then burn the slideshow to a DVD.
When you play that DVD on a set-top DVD player (with up-sampling) connected to a HD television you will get images that are difficult to discern from Blu-Ray DVDs.
The software that Bob mentioned is excellent.
Guys, thanks for your input. This Camera Dock is an excellent High definition slideshow tool and I love the convinience of popping the camera in and watching in full HD with transitions. That is why I am desprate to figure out a way to view non Sony pictures. Another user in a different forum was able to do it by replacing exif info of the other images with a Sony image, but it didn't work for me. I have an upconverting DVD player that can display jpg image in high definition feom USB drive or CD/DVD, but it takes up to 30 seconds to draw the whole screen, but sony dock does not have any delay.
