When I run into something like this, I boot from my Mint Linux DVD and look to see what's going on. You can download from here:

Good luck.
Toshiba C655D, Windows 7. Posted last week but problem has now worsened. Was receiving
"Error F3-F100-0010" upon powerup. Many searches of this error suggested a virus and that a restore of Windows 7 should fix, but I do not have a boot / repair disc. Tried to boot in safe mode but unable. After several fruitless attempts, I am now getting a message that reads "Check Cable! PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM, No Bootable Device - Insert Disc." I spoke with Toshiba and can purchase a boot disc for $29 but that would probably be futile too. I created a boot disc via a free site
just to see if I could see any signs of life. Created disc, loaded and tried, but no luck. Same message. I tried reorder of boot devices in F12 boot setup. Have removed / reinstalled HD a few times. Looks to me like HD is toast, but want to get some expert feedback before I put it 6 feet under. Thanks!
