HD LCD RPTV & a string of either bad luck or OCD

Sep 11, 2005 3:20PM PDT

Let me start with a little history.

I had a 46' Toshiba HD CRT RPTV not too long ago....... I noticed a faint white line in the center & took it back to BestBuy. The replacement had the same white line issue (appears to be a common flaw) so I opted to trade in & pony up the bucks for a 52' Mitsuibishi DLP RPTV. Wouldnt you know it I started to see the rainbow effect on DarthVaders helmet one day.....Not cool, Then the set never seemed bright enough, also when it converted interlaced feed to p-scan I saw REALLY BAD jagged lines & thank god I noticed a smudge behind the screen as that gave me the ammo to feel good about returning it. WHEW

Here is my problem:

Friday I picked up the Sony KDFE55a20. It looks cool, the pic is BRIGHT, no jagged edges or "tracers" when converting interlaced into p-scan & the price was right. Thing is I now see tiny reflective dots over the entire image on the screen.

First question: Does anyone else see those?

Also, the Picture quality sucks......when compared to the mitsu DLP I watched for 4 months. Dont get me wrong, the LCD picture looks great but I cant forget seeing Jay Leno's razor burn on the DLP & now being unable to see it I realize I lost some serious resolution. But now I can tan on my couch with this sony so..........

Another question: Is it just a fact of DLP being sharper than LCD or a case of name brands making better products?

Also another question: Has anyone saw "framing" on a LCDRPTV in high action sceens.....like when the resolution on a PC is set too high for its hardware?
