Question

HD-DVD software

I have about 160 HD-DVD movies. I have an optical drive in my PC that will read these but I am looking for software that will allow me to view, rip, and covert them to my hard drive. I will eventually be setting up a NAS device and load all of my movies (about 300 Bluray and about 900 DVD movies, plus hopefully the HD-DVD movies) and use a cloud service back up. Any suggestions?

Re: HD-DVD

Only rip, don't convert. Then find a program that plays them from the hard drive like it played them from the original disk. No need to use the same program to view and rip; two different programs is just as fine.

My understanding of hd-dvd is that..

it's encode with H.264 or mpeg-4 AVC. Isn't that the same as bru-ray? So maybe the same method (whatever that might be).

No ripping here.
