General discussion

HD DVD content.

Molly asked us if we (the listeners) knew of High Definition content available on DVD, Windows has some cool HD content available for purchase. I have not bought it yet but plan to just to check it out. I think you have to play this on a Computer (which is not a big deal for me since I have a HTPC) since there is no DVD player (as far as I know) that can play native 720p or 1080i/p without up-conversion.

Note some of it does not have any DRM!!! Go M$!

I hope it's not true.

I heard that none of the next gen DVD formats will support 1080p. If that's true it sucks.

Sitting Back

My wife and I are moving from Bermuda to Ireland. The one thing I do know is that I am going to have to buy a TV and DVD player. With all this hype on the new generation and standards, I figure I am just going to have to wait it out because this type of news tells me that I can end up betting on the wrong horse. I have followed the posts on this issue and so far it has not really been clear as to what will be the standard and just what will it support. This isn't a slam against anyone because the only people who would truely know, won't let me sit in their boardroom
