HD detection problem on XP prof.

by mdenny88 / September 26, 2004 5:20 AM PDT

"I built my own computer recently. I ran into very little trouble putting the hardware together and i got the BIOS screen to come up. When i ran the system with windows XP in my drive however, it does not setup due to the fact that it does not detect my hard drive. I know for a fact that it is hooked up because when i start the computer, it says that the hard drive is set as the master something (i forgot exactly what). Also when i go into the configure arrays menu, it is listed as an option. Is this just a problem with Win XP? Or do I need to find certain drivers to use?

Note: I got the Hard Drive OEM so it did not come with any supprot CDs or Floppys. Western Digital 120GB 7200RPM SATA is the HD and its XP pro.

Any ideas? Tell me if you need any more info or details.

One question, which I'm not seeing the answer to. Are you trying to set up Windows on the new SATA drive, or are you trying to use it in tandum with an existing XP installation?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
