HD connectors

Sep 16, 2008 11:09PM PDT

I have DISH HD and a 47" Phillips 1080 LCD HDTV. The tv has three or four HD connections. The receiver one. When I plug the connector into the receiver and then in to any of the connections on the TV, the tv doesn't "read" it.

Additionally my digital output connector "fits" the receiver slot but not the tv slot.

I am all confused, can anyone help me?

Thanks.

I guess you are saying the TV has 3 or 4 HDMI connectors.

HDMI is indeed the connector of choice for the future as it carries both video & audio through one line. Since HDMI standards are quite new, reality is that many devices have been made with varying degrees of HDMI compliance. One should be able to do an A-B comparison between HDMI & component connectors to see which works best with what you have.

A welcome newcomer online to easily lay out how to connect wires up for what you have is wirewize.com. Rather than the very dry instruction manual, it makes most wiring situations straight forward & simple. Give them a try.

You didn't give any model numbers so this is just general advice.
Give this a try, plug the HDMI cable into the Dish HDMI out and the HDTV HDMI in. Plug the Dish digital audio out into the receiver digital in. John
