That is how it is. It not just the adding an extra layer that can sometime add noise to the PQ, it that on some models like Sony's you can not run 2 audios out with out every time have to go into the audio setting and change something. If you run a HDMI stright to the tv and just want to use the tv speakers you have to change a setting, if next time you want to use your suround sound, you then have to go into the the audio setting and change something, that is the #1 reason I did not get a Sony. . Some of us do not like to use the receiver EVERY time to watch a movies.
For having 2 HDMI outs, I bet it comes down to money also there are a lot of stupid people out there and to make it less confusing they just did 1 HDMI port.
I use the analogs on my player since I have a none HDMI reciever and run the HDMI stright to the tv... In the end there is less to go wrong.
Whether the bd player decodes or receiver this is the only way
to pass the hd audio throught to the receiver. Correct me if i'm
wrong. This forces you to connect through the receiver onto the hdtv
if you want to get the hd audio through hdmi unless you use the 5.1/7.1 analog connections. Why don't they just put 2 hdmi outs
on the bd players in case you don't want to connect it this way?
1 to the receiver for hd audio and 1 to the hdtv for hd video bypassing more circuitry for potential video degradation.
