A Howard man thought his guns and ammunition would be safe if he hid them in the oven while he and his wife were away on vacation.

Interesting but who in this picture created the larger 'hazard', the husband who hid the ammo or the wife who didn't check the oven before turning it on?

Killed by what, Bill? Not bullets flying about, the cartridges would rupture, but without the containment of a cylinder or chamber, the bullets themselves would not "take off".

I hadn't thought about that, but the bullets might not fly much without a barrel to direct them.

Still, the actions were careless/stupid enough to sound appropriate for Darwin Awards if somebody had been seriously hurt.
