Question

having trouble with Java

been trying to sort out browser probs/slow computer issues. checked for current Add Ons tried to upload new version of Java i downloaded is corrupt. is there a safe place to get Java? i've seen this: 'unresponsive script' a lot when things are freezing up. not sure what i'm doing! any help would be greatly appreciated.

Java and scripts are totally unrelated. Java doesn't have scripts and scripts aren't written in Java.

The best thing to do with Java is to uninstall all Java's you see from Control Panel>Add/remove programs (or whatever it's called in your version of Windows) and forget about it until it's needed again (most likely it isn't).
Then your troubles with Java surely are gone.

Your other troubles probably will stay, but that's a different story.

yes i had already uninstalled all Java's. that's true and i still don't know what's causing the other probs.

About unresponsive scripts.

Happens here too and there's nothing wrong with our PCs.

I can cause this with not good enough scripting on a web site. You have to wonder if folk are taking PCs in for repairs over this one.
