Having trouble using HDTV as a monitor

Jul 19, 2004 1:27AM PDT

I recently connected my computer to my 26" HDTV (Samsung 2670WH) using a DVI cable. My video card is a GeForce FX5600 XT.

The problem is that when I use the TV as my monitor the edges of the screen are cut off. For example I am not able to see the taskbar or titlebars among other things. Also there is a constant flicker which really isn't that bad but would be nice if I could fix it. I appreciate anyones suggestions.

If this was why you bought the HDTV, then you may want to squawk loudly to the supplier that it's coming back and you want the money back.

I've yet to see such double as PC displays well.

Next time, get a demo of this.

SOLUTION!

to the issue of cropping the taskbar, i had this problem when trying to use the svid output on my graphics card (an Nvidia Geforce 5200FX) in the 'nview properities' select tv output and adjust the settings (like the OSD on your monitor) to resize the image to fit your tv, unfortunately for me my tv wasn't high def so the picture was still lousy but at least it wasn't cropped, i hope this works for you
