I can't help. For years I've been using VNC and now TightVNC.
What does Symantec offer for support now?
I simply cannot get pcanywhere to work on my PC. Just to outline my situation: I work for an oil company and we use this program to access the PLC at our facility. On this same home PC I had pcanywhere installed before and it worked great. Then my hard drive crashed. After getting it back from the repair shop (they re-installed the same operating system Windows ME) I re-installed pcanywhere on the computer and low and behold it will not work no matter what I try. When I try to connect it usually will connect to the host computer and prompt me for both the username and password then on the first attempt I get a black screen with a bunch of symbols letters and numbers. Then usually with the second attempt at a connection at the same step in the process it will shut my computer down after which I get a blue screen stating something like windows has detected an error and I have to reboot the computer. The oil company has a laptop that can be used by anyone who wishes and it has pcanywhere installed on it. I can bring it home, plug it into the same phone jack as my home PC and it connects and works great!! I obviously made sure the pcanywhere settings on the home PC are identical as the laptop. This has me totally stumped. Some additional info. The home PC has a 56K modem. The host PC out at work has a very slow modem (I think maybe a 14,400) But this was never an issue before.
Home PC is a custom built
80 GB hard drive
1.5 Mhz Intel pentuim 4 processor.
Internet provider is local cable company.
Have tried several versions of pcanywhere. None work.
Any help on this would be much appreciated
