Sounds like a psu or mobo problem.
Boot the machine to the desktop.
Shutdown.
Can you power up?
If not boot the machine into safe mode.
Shutdown.
Can you power up?
Hey all,
Specs:
AMD 8150 CPU
MSI 970A-G46 Mobo
AMD R9 390 GPU
Samsung 850 EVO SSD
EVGA 1000W PSU
8GB RAM
Been having an odd issue that I'm sort of at a loss with what to do next.
Whenever I shut down my computer or when it shuts down after installation of something (windows updates, other software, etc.) it absolutely will not power back on UNLESS I remove both the power cord and cut power to the power supply for about 5-10 seconds. Pop the cord back in, flip the switch back on for the power supply, and it fires right up. Or I can wait an extended duration of time (something like leaving the house to go run errands) and it will power on when I hit the button without removing power beforehand. The power supply is relatively new and within warranty, but my gut is telling me it isn't an issue... been wrong before though ![]()
Windows 10 has been acting strangely for me as well. I had to do a clean install recently because I kept getting a "BAD CONFIG INFO" error on boot-up that I couldn't resolve. It wouldn't allow me to do a reinstall that kept all of my files either.
After I did that, event viewer is showing an "atapi, event ID 11" error. Apparently it has something to do with an IDE port, either way Windows will sometimes crash randomly, regardless of what I am currently doing on the computer at the time and that is the error it will show around the time of crashing. Sometimes, I'm not even actively using it and Windows will crash and have to do a reboot. Of course, when it tries to reboot itself it can't, because I haven't removed power for 5-10 seconds... All very frustrating
All this to say, I'm stumped. Could the IDE error be pointing to a motherboard issue? It is pretty much the oldest part of my setup, and was rather cheap to begin with ($80ish range). Keyboard and mouse are almost brand new, but I was having this issue before I switched any of that. Monitors are rather old as well, neither have an HDMI port.
Appreciate anyone's thoughts and time,
Thanks!
