Please teach me. I assume you partitioned your hard disk right? What software did you use? Did you use the built in partition software in vista? Is the partition logical? Sorry if I have a lot of questions. Please teach me. Thanks in advance.
There are many ways to do this, and if Windows is already installed on your computer there's a little more work to it. However, if you're starting off with a clean slate you can:
1.) Insert, and boot to, the Vista DVD.
2.) When you reach the step to select the installation partition delete the current partition if there is one and create two new partitions from the unallocated space.
3.) Proceed with installing one edition of Vista to either partition.
4.) After installation boot to the Vista DVD again and install the other edition to the other partition.
Now, if Vista or another OS is already installed there is a change in plans. If it's Vista you can SHRINK the partition using Disk Management, whereas if it's a previous OS you need to use a third-party partitioning tool such as Partition Magic. You could then install Vista on the newly created partition.
Let me know what your current setup is (ie is there already an OS on the hard drive and do you want to keep it?) and I can provide further clarification and instruction.

Windows vista home premium is already pre-installed ( Japanese version) I am planning to install a English version of home premium. My second problem is the drivers. There is only a recovery DVD but no driver disc (Japanese manufacturer's do not give drivers for their pc's). My idea to get around it is to back up all drivers in the Japanese vista and after installing the English vista , I would restore them back on the English version. You think that will work? Thank you again.
In that setup your cheapest option would be to launch Disk Management, an administrative tool in the Control Panel, select your current partition, and use the Shrink feature I mentioned previously to reduce its size. You could then create a new, second partition from the newly freed/unallocated space. Boot to the English Vista DVD and direct the installation to the second, free partition. Note that this likely won't work if the English DVD is a system recovery system and not a standard Windows DVD. As to drivers, that should be fine. Personally, I save myself some time and use the Driver Toolkit to backup and restore them all. I'm not sure what limitations the shareware version has, though.
Hope this helps,
John
