True.

To avoid this I have my document open first before the copy. This happens because older Office versions have their own clipboard. This area is well discussed.

Thanks, somehow I am not getting notifications for my original posts - thats why I have duplications.

Anyhow, you say the word document has to be open before pasting - tried that and that works but it does not come up "blue"

It never did this not that long ago - all of the sudden it just started not pasting. I have installed Office 2013 but the documents that I already had on my pc were created in older version of Word.

So you say this is well discussed - then how is it fixed?

Sorry

Why would it be blue? My source text is not blue.

As to where it has prior discussions, the web. Microsoft's office and other forums.

And you wrote " tried that and that works " which seems to be Microsoft's answer to this issue.

Not blue source text
Feb 4, 2014 4:57PM PST

I never said the source text is blue but when u do a normal paste onto word it used to paste as blue but now it just plain black and u have to hit enter for it to turn blue

The Microsoft forum is not very user friendly.

I am not after Microsofts answer, thats why I am here.

This appears to be a DUPLICATE THREAD.

You seem to opened this question a few times. While we know Microsoft has a really terrible answer, or at least I think so, the workaround does work here.

duplicate question

I explained why the question was duplicated - I am having trouble with your new format.

What workaround?

So far
Feb 4, 2014 11:38PM PST

1. Open the document to paste into.
2. Copy
3. Paste
4. Now I'm guessing here it's some URL and you want that blue linking. Press enter after the paste.

Yes I know it changed but to fix it, you need to get Microsoft to fix it.

Are you saying I can delete your other posts on this?
Bob

yes i know
Feb 5, 2014 5:20AM PST

I now know that i have to open the document before I paste and I already knew that u had to press enter to get it to turn blue.

How do i get microsoft to fix it?

- Collapse -
That's the big question.
Feb 5, 2014 5:28AM PST

So far Microsoft seems content with workarounds and not ready to correct issues like this one. There are some hundred posts about this issue and they all seem to offer workarounds and no solid cure that works everywhere.

But your last question is the big one.

Maybe typing a space (to tell Word you're ready with the hyperlink) is enough?

And what should Microsoft tix? I think it's 'by design'. Did you ask them?

The last time I checked you got a few free incident calls to Microsoft for issues like this.

Funny how history repeats itself. I feel like a 32 oz Big Gulp and a loaf of sliced bread, eaten in front of NYC city hall.
