Disable the wake on lan, mouse or such. Limit it to the keyboard.
I have a new desktop computer (Gateway model 5658) that came with Vista Home Premium. It is my home computer and, almost always, I am the only user.
It is my understanding that when I am going to be away from the computer for a while, including bedtime, I SHOULD NOT TURN THE COMPUTER OFF. Instead, I SHOULD PUT IT IN SLEEP MODE.
Here is what has been happening:
I click on the Start button (lower left corner of screen)and after a menu appears I click on the power button symbol. The system then goes to SLEEP. But, sometimes it doesn't stay ASLEEP. Sometimes after just a minute or so it comes back on. Other times it comes back on after several hours. Sometimes it stays ASLEEP, which is what I want.
What is going on? How can I make it stay in SLEEP mode?
(Note: When the computer is ON the power button (on the computer) is LIT. When in SLEEP mode, the power button BLINKS.)
Thanks in advance for your info.
