have i got a virus?

i think there may be a virus on my computer but i'm not sure.
this is what happens:my computer has really slowed down and one popup 'ultralase' keeps popping up even though i have a popup blocker. also i i open an internet page from the symbol on the start menu it comes up with a page called www.beatnik.com instead of may home page. is there a virus and if so how do i get rid of it.

Whenever posting questions on these forums, please give us as much information as possible about your computer. Depending on your issue, we might need the operating system, processor speed, amount of RAM installed, brand name of the computer, (if there is one), and any EXACT error messages you are receiving, plus any other information you think might help. The more information you give us, the better informed our answer will be.
